Members of the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps are hoping he'll see this story and contact them so they can offer their appreciation.
Another bystander was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher just before midnight late Wednesday while the unknown EMT began CPR on the victim, who had no pulse and wasn't breathing, TVAC Public Information Officer Larry Robertson said.
An off duty squad member arrived on scene along with Teaneck police and applied a single automatic defibrillator, Robertson said.
The revived victim was then taken by TVAC Ambulance 75 to Holy Name Medical Center, he said.
Meanwhile, the hero slipped away amid all the commotion.
"This call was an example of how effective bystander CPR is and how immediate care can change a patient’s outcome," Robertson said.
"We would like to thank the unknown EMT who initiated CPR to save the patient’s life but who left before receiving any credit and thanks," he added. "We're hoping to find that person."
